Meek Mill, a rapper from US, is considering becoming a citizen of Ghana, according to a recent post on X. Reflecting on his journey to Ghana for the Year of Return project, he acknowledged a strong connection to the country and stated that naturalizing there would provide him with peace of mind.
In his most recent social media post, Meek Mill expressed his wish for a fresh start, highlighting his conviction that America’s system frequently marginalizes black men who do not comply to its norm. He sees Ghana as a place where he might potentially escape his restraints and start over.
I wanna get citizenship in Ghana!!!! America made to tear black men down if you don’t follow orders!

Meek Mill visited Ghana in December 2022 and has continuously voiced a desire to return and engage with Ghanaian artists. However, his recent social media activity has been dominated by charges leveled by a former employee of rapper and producer Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
The employee, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, reportedly filed a complaint accusing Meek Mill of gay sexual activity with Diddy, along with others whose names were redacted. Meek Mill strongly rejected these allegations in a series of postings on X, implying that there may be a coordinated effort to destroy his reputation as a hardworking black American.
