Ghanaian musician Amerado has made a plea to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board to consider his song ‘Kwaku Ananse’ for nomination in the most popular song category. This request came after the unveiling of the nominations for the awards on March 28, where Amerado’s song was notably absent from the list.
Robert Klah, who serves as the Head of Public Events and Communications for the Telecel Ghana Music Awards, confirmed Amerado’s appeal during an interview on Daybreak Hitz FM on April 2. According to Klah, Amerado’s team has directly contacted the TGMA board regarding the omission of ‘Kwaku Ananse’ from the Most Popular Song of the Year category. He stated that the scheme is currently reviewing the petition and will assess whether the song deserves inclusion.
Klah emphasized that the board will carefully consider Amerado’s petition and grant the song a chance if it meets the necessary criteria. Additionally, he encouraged other artists who may have concerns about their nominations to seek clarification within a one-week grace period provided by the awards scheme.
Amerado, despite the omission of ‘Kwaku Ananse‘ from the most popular song category, received two nominations in other categories. These include the Best Rap Performance for his track ‘The Hardest’ and the Best Collaboration for the ‘Kwaku Ananse’ remix featuring Fameye.
